Picture Me Now
An awkward and socially clumsy artist stumbles upon a possible connection between a stranger and a painting. Both become an obsession, threatening the life he has with his wife and daughter.
Does he have a connection with the woman?
Will regression by a hypnotherapist provide the answers he is searching for?
And will that stop the dreams which are haunting his sleep?
Set against an environmental theme, this novel examines the concept of life after death and whether connections could be re-established across lifetimes.
Perhaps there are times when we catch a glimpse of someone, and we know for sure deep in our heart that our worlds have been connected before.
This book is for people who believe this to be possible.
It is also for those who question such things.

A Dog Like Ralph
This is the humorous, sometimes sad, and eventually uplifting story of Ralph and the friends he has met along the way. He is a rescue dog with a difficult past who loves other dogs, is frightened of people and cars and mesmerized by cats and rabbits. It is partly told through his eyes and describes how what he has experienced before has affected how he interacts with those around him. Entwined with his story, Clare, his new owner and the author of this book, who has a total of over 30 years experience of working with animals and teaching veterinary nursing and animal care and welfare, tells of the joys of having him as a companion and how, through gentle nurturing and the arrival of his compatriots, Peggy and Luella, his whole outlook on life has changed. She also writes with a great deal of passion about the pitfalls of a society that has resulted in Ralph being the way he is, and of some of the other issues that are contributing to the problems faced by dogs today.
‘Clare shows an uncanny understanding of dog psyche, maybe because she trained as a veterinary nurse; but I prefer to think that she has a natural gift. She provides a voice for the dogs to speak directly to the reader, which makes this book unique and fascinating. This is a story which can be enjoyed by older children as well as adults.’ – Joyce Wilson, The Keswick Reminder (The Lake District, UK)

A Dog Like Peggy
The Life and Times of a Rescued Greyhound
For the first four years of her life Peggy was one of the thousands of greyhounds who are forced to race – long dogs born to run as fast as they can to make money for those who own them. Once she was no longer winning she became useless to the industry. Fortunately for Peggy, however, she was one of the luckier ex-racing dogs, and was placed in the care of a greyhound rescue charity. In rescue she waited another year for her forever home.
Clare spotted her picture on the rescue shelter’s web page and immediately knew Peggy was the dog to join her family. And so, Peggy became the trusted canine companion to their other dog, the very nervous, sort-of-greyhound, Ralph.
In this book, Peggy narrates her own story, taking us from the harrowing days on the track, to the life she now has living with Ralph, and not forgetting Lucy – the little dog with the teeth.
This is a story about the bonds between dogs, and the many ways in which humans influence their lives.
It is a book suitable for dog-loving older teens… but will be enjoyed by anyone who has ever loved a rescue dog.

The Diary of a Human and a Dog (or Three!)
When a dog loses their human companion it results in the upheaval of everything they’ve ever loved. When a human loses their parent it is the most heart-rending thing to have to deal with. Lucy had been rescued just three years earlier and thought she had found her forever home. She was living as the sole dog in charge of an old woman. When the old woman passed away, Lucy found herself thrust into a life in which she would have to share her new humans with two other dogs. She had encountered Ralph and Peggy before and, quite frankly and in her stroppy terrier way, was not that keen on them. This is the diary of Clare and Lucy. It is a story of how dogs can help humans heal, and how humans can help dogs to overcome their own very special sort of grief.

A Soldier Like Jack
Like millions of other young men, Jack was plunged into a war which was to change his life, and the lives of his loved ones, forever. While his brothers left Britain to fight in France and Belgium on The Western Front, Jack’s war would take him to Salonica (Thessaloniki), in Greece. This book paints a picture of the world as seen by Jack’s wife, Grace, who tells the harrowing story of what happened to the men and the families they left behind. It traces their lives from the time of Jack and Grace’s marriage in 1912, until Grace’s death in 1957. This is a true story based on the lives of the author’s great-grandparents, Jack and Grace Cogbill.

Lilac Haze
You don’t remember your childhood in detail, so your memories thirty or forty years on have become hazy; times you had back then are painted in ways that have become distorted, and you find yourself recalling conversations you have created in your head. Through living in the false world of remembering, you can deal with the past in such a way that the things that happened, they appear to matter less. This is a love story. In the end, anyway, that’s what it will be. A love story gives you hope: whatever you have lost; whatever you have to gain. For me, as someone on daily kidney dialysis, when an offer of a kidney came along which I couldn’t possibly refuse, there was everything to gain. But the past has a way of interfering with what seems as though it is the right path… and how do you ever in this life repay a debt so huge? Clare Cogbill was born in the mid-1960s and has spent much of her adult life working with animals, and as a lecturer. In this book, from personal experience, she explores the issues of organ donation, generosity, grief. and the human-animal bond. It is a story that readers will find thought-provoking and captivating. This book is an autobiography of love, loss, grief and what can happen when you dare to hope.

The Indie Gluten Free Vegan Cookbook
120 Easy Recipes
Independent author and lecturer Clare Cogbill (A Dog Like Ralph, The Diary of a Human and a Dog) shares her family’s gluten free vegan recipes. Clare has been vegan for animals and the environment since 2002, and in 2015 her (also vegan) husband was diagnosed as being coeliac – something that runs in his family. Their vegan diet immediately had to also become gluten free. Straight away the contents of their cupboards and fridge were adapted to suit his diagnosis. Some recipes they changed, some they created from scratch, going back to the drawing board – this was especially important for vegan gluten free cakes, which can be difficult to make. Clare has also benefited by excluding gluten from her diet. It is not for everyone, but she feels healthier this way. All 120 recipes are 100% vegan and gluten free. The recipes will help those embarking on being vegan, or those already vegan and having to, like they have, also follow a diet free of gluten.
